Groupage shipments from 1m3 in shared containers

Affordable · Efficient · Sustainable

Groupage transport is a cost‑effective way to send goods to and from foreign countries. How? By sharing space in a sea container with others moving to the same destination. This makes it possible to ship even very small volumes — starting from just 1m³.

Moving household goods by sea has become increasingly popular for international relocations. But because a standard sea container is large, many customers don’t have enough belongings to fill one on their own. That’s where groupage shipping comes in: a shared container where you split the cost with others.

A Greener Way to Move Internationally

Groupage is not only affordable — it’s also a more sustainable choice.
By combining shipments into a single shared container, we reduce the total number of containers on the ocean. This means:

  • fewer departures
  • lower CO₂ emissions per customer
  • maximum use of available container space

For anyone who wants a more environmentally conscious way to move internationally, groupage is one of the most efficient and climate-friendly solutions available.

Groupage destinations abroad

Transpack operates groupage containers to 10 popular countries. Our busiest destinations include the United States, Curaçao, Australia, and Canada. Current destinations include:
  • United States (states in the middle of the country are also accessible)
  • Canada
  • Curaçao
  • Aruba
  • Congo
  • Thailand
  • Singapore
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • South Africa

Return shipments back to the Netherlands are also possible. The same trusted partners that support us on the outbound journey also offer a seamless groupage service for your return relocation.

The groupage container will depart once it is full. This can mean longer waiting times compared to a dedicated container. Transpack will keep you updated on availability, planning, and the expected departure window.

What does groupage cost?

Groupage pricing varies depending on:

  • destination
  • volume (m³)
  • selected services
  • the season or month of departure

Groupage can be arranged in different ways:

  1. Full service: Goods are professionally packed and unpacked at your home.
  2. Transport service only: You pack and unpack yourself, we handle collection and delivery.
  3. Warehouse delivery: You deliver packed goods to our warehouse, and we deliver them at destination.
  4. Warehouse-to-warehouse: You deliver and collect goods at the warehouses.

Variations and combinations are always possible.

Please note: countries such as the United States are large, and groupage does not cover every town. Contact a Transpack representative to check coverage in your desired area.

Safely sharing container space

We understand that sharing a container may raise questions. To guarantee safety and separation of goods, we take several precautions:
  • Partitioning the goods by means of wood and/or plastic
  • Drawing up packing lists and numbering the individual boxes
  • Colour coding the boxes, if required
  • Creating loading plans for our partners so they know where certain goods are located

How does Groupage work?

  1. Send a request: Tell us your volume and destination via our quotation form. We’ll provide availability and pricing categories.
  2. Preparation: We confirm your booking and explain the customs documents needed for both origin and destination.
  3. Store your belongings temporarily: Your belongings will be stored free of charge in our warehouse in The Hague until the first possible sailing, unless you need extra storage time on your own request.
  4. Shipping your goods: We notify you once the container is full and share the sailing schedule. You can follow your shipment via track & trace.
  5. Collection of goods: Upon arrival, the container is unloaded at our partner’s warehouse for delivery to your new home.
