Moving to Turkey

When you move to Turkey you may want to take your belongings with you. You can choose to use your own moving container or a joint container (groupage) which means you share the transport costs with others. At Transpack, we offer both sea containers and air containers for international removals.

The costs of moving to Turkey

Road transport is used for small to medium-sized shipments to Turkey. Transpack has a preferred partner for removals from and to Turkey, so they are regularly at our warehouse to pick up consignments. For the larger shipments (>20m3) it is often advisable to move by sea container from a financial point of view. Together with a Transpack employee you can look for the most cost-efficient way of transporting your household goods.

What should you take with you when you emigrate to Turkey?

To help you prepare for your trip, we have put together some tips for you. Make sure that documents, keys, medicines, jewellery and other important items are not included in your shipment.  You should always take these items with you personally.

Clothing It is important to bring appropriate clothing to Turkey.  The climate in Turkey varies from very hot summers with high humidity in Istanbul to cold, wet winters. In Ankara, the summers are also hot, but dry and with cooler evenings. On the Mediterranean coast, summers are warm and winters mild.
Travel plug The electricity voltage in Turkey is about 220 Volts and the frequency is 50 Hertz. You will need a (world) adapter plug if you are bringing electrical appliances.
Medicines Check whether your medication is available in Turkey and the maximum amount you are allowed to take with you. Also check if you need a medical certificate for taking medication on a trip
Documents Carry important documents such as passport, visa documents etc. in your hand luggage – make copies too.
Personal items
Think of your favourite toiletries, things that remind you of home and other things you can’t afford to be without.
Tip: pack a spare set of clothes in your hand luggage in case your checked luggage is delayed or lost.
