Moving to Spain

When you move to Spain, you may want to take some of your belongings with you. The easiest way to organise this is by road transport, in which there are two possibilities: direct transport and combined (groupage) shipping.

The costs of moving to Spain

Direct transport means that a lorry leaves for Spain immediately after packing and loading your goods. With groupage transport, you share the lorry and the costs with others. In this case, the lorry only starts moving when there are enough shipments to fill up the lorry.

How long will my possessions be on their way to Spain?

With direct transport you should assume an average moving time of 7 days. With groupage transport, it takes on average between 2 and 3 weeks and strongly depends on the season. In the high season (the summer months), the lorry is filled faster and can therefore leave sooner. Conversely, in the first months of the year, there are fewer removals, and the transport can therefore take longer.

Tips on emigrating to Spain

Moving to Spain is a wonderful prospect. Spain has many advantages, such as a wonderful climate throughout most of the year. The Spanish lifestyle is also quite relaxed. Spaniards take a siesta at lunchtime with an extensive lunch and a glass of wine or beer. Your new Spanish life can almost begin. First, there are a few things you need to arrange and we are happy to help you with this.

Do I need a visa for Spain?

To settle in Spain you need a valid passport and in some cases a visa. For living and working in Spain, we recommend that you contact the consulate or embassy of your country. Our relocation specialists from Eurohome can also help you arrange a visa for your emigration to Spain.

What should you take with you when you emigrate to Spain?

To help you prepare for your trip, we have put together some tips for you. Make sure that documents, keys, medicines, jewellery and other important items are not included in your shipment. You should always take these items with you personally.

ClothingSpaniards always dress appropriately and appearance is important to them. Quality clothing can be found everywhere in Spain, such as leather boots and/or bags. Please note that larger sizes are hard to get in Spain. In general, the average Spaniard is small.
Travel plug
The electricity voltage in Spain is about 220 Volts and the frequency is 50 Hertz. You will need a (world) adapter if you are taking electrical appliances with you.
MedicinesCheck whether your medication is available in Spain and the maximum amount you are allowed to take with you. Also check if you need a medical certificate for taking medication on a trip.
DocumentsCarry important documents such as passport, visa documents etc. in your hand luggage – make copies too
Personal items
Think of your favourite toiletries, things that remind you of home and other things you can’t afford to be without.
Tip: pack a spare set of clothes in your hand luggage in case your checked luggage is delayed or lost.
