Moving to Curaçao
Safe, flexible, and affordable international relocation
Thinking about moving to Curaçao? Transpack supports your relocation from start to finish, with reliable local partners in Willemstad and clear communication throughout the process. Tell us about your move and we’ll help you choose the shipping option that best fits your volume, timing and budget.
Move more sustainably
By choosing groupage, you reduce your environmental impact by sharing container space and avoiding unnecessary shipments — a smarter, more sustainable way to move overseas.
How your move works
- Inventory & quote
Share your volume (m³), addresses, and preferred service level. We prepare a tailored quote and outline your best options. - Packing & preparation
If selected, our crew will pack your belongings, handle disassembly, and label everything clearly. You can also pack yourself — we’ll advise on best practices. - Choosing your shipping option
Groupage, LCL, FCL, or air — planned around your timing and requirements. - Export & shipment
We exchange the necessary documents with our receiving agent and keep you informed as your shipment is prepared for departure. - Customs in the Curaçao
We connect you with our partner in Curaçao, who will contact you directly to complete customs formalities. - Delivery
Depending on your chosen service level, we arrange delivery to your home or delivery inside your home at destination.
Your shipping options
Groupage
Groupage means, we combine compatible shipments that share a route so you pay only for the space you use. This is a popular choice for small to medium volumes. Read here more about groupage.
Good to know: groupage takes longer than a dedicated container because shipments are combined and planned together.
LCL – Less than Container Load
LCL is different from groupage and is mostly suitable for specific routes or volumes where a measured share of a container under standard freight handling fits best. Your move coordinator will advise if LCL is the right option for you.
FCL — Full Container Load
This option is best for larger volumes or a full household. FCL typically includes fewer handlings and can allow direct loading at your home, depending on access and local conditions.
Air freight
Air freight is faster than sea freight but comes at a higher cost. Your coordinator can help decide if sending a small essentials shipment by air and the rest by sea makes sense for your situation.
Transit times
Transit times vary widely depending on your route, season, and chosen service. Contact us for a quote and we’ll share the most realistic timing for your move based on current schedules and availability.
What determines your costs?
Your final price depends on:
- Volume (m³) you plan to move
- Shipping method (Groupage / LCL / FCL / Air)
- Route and delivery location
- Service level (packing, collection, delivery options)
- Period of shipping
We’ll ask a few questions about your move and then provide a tailored quote that reflects current conditions.

Customs & documents
If you are relocating to Curaçao and want to import your household goods under a duty exemption, Curaçao customs requires specific documentation and local procedures.
In practice, it is important to contact our local partner in Willemstad shortly after arrival. This helps avoid unnecessary port‑related costs, such as storage or container charges, if documentation is not submitted on time. Once documents are submitted, Curaçao customs typically needs several working days to process the file.
Sedula & declaration of rechtswege
For many relocation scenarios, a declaration of rechtswege is required as part of the residence process. In addition, a Sedula is needed for certain local registrations and administrative matters.
Transpack is not involved in obtaining these documents, but we do recommend checking early whether you are already working on them, as this can affect customs procedures and timing.
For official and up‑to‑date information, we recommend consulting NetherlandsWorldwide
Important: Customs at destination decides what is allowed and what may enter Curaçao duty‑free. Transpack does not obtain Sedula, residence permits or other government registrations on behalf of customers.
Documents commonly required for duty exemption
While requirements can vary per situation, these documents are commonly requested:
- Proof of deregistration from the Netherlands (uitschrijvingsbewijs)
- Copy of passport (for family moves: passports of all family members)
- Packing / inventory list
- Proof of local registration in Curaçao (where applicable)
For new items: list or invoices (duties and taxes apply)
Prohibited & restricted items
For safety and compliance, certain items cannot be shipped:
- Food & dried foods
- Plants, seeds & soil‑related items
- Animal‑based products (incl. derivatives)
- Aerosols & pressurized items
- Hazardous materials (e.g., flammables, chemicals)
For the latest and complete list, please contact your Transpack move coordinator — regulations change regularly, and we’ll share the most up‑to‑date guidance for your shipment.
